First Day
The first day begins with orientation and everyone getting to know each other. Next is a trip for everyone to the shooting range. Each student is video taped while shooting a series of shots at the targets. Later individual attention is given to each student as they are coached by reviewing the tapes. The primary object of this aspect of instruction is form and stand, but fine tuning includes everything from fingers, grip and positioning, to front and back anchors. How to completely disassemble and reassemble your bow is taught in the evening.
Second Day
The second day begins with a return trip to the shooting range. Instituting improvements learned the previous day after review of their video session, students now learn the fine art of paper tuning their bows. Other skills covered at the shooting range that day include shooting from various positions such as sitting and leaning at radical angles. Seminars after lunch include broadheads and packing for a trip.
Third Day
The third day is among the favorites, beginning before dawn with each student riding across a fog engulfed lake, hearing a bull moose grunting in the distance. Out of the mist the moose emerges, moving briskly for the cover of the wooded shoreline. The student has only seconds to respond and arrow the beast. Later that day moving targets in a highly realistic hunting situation include a bear coming to bait, a buck circling an apple tree, three big caribou emerging from water and much more. That afternoon there is seminar on fine tuning your hunting equipment and scent control.
Fourth Day
The fourth day is the toughest--as there is a final exit exam the class must collectively pass. Following a seminar on trailing arrowed animals, the class is taken to the woods where they are shown a fresh blood trail to follow. If they do well, they ultimately come to the end of the blood trail, but there is no buck. They must now institute a grid search that was taught to them earlier that day. So far everyone one has passed the test, but all have been surprised.
Driving Directions:
Coming into Troy, PA either west or east of Troy, we have only one red light, turn on Canton Street and go until you come to the end of the Chevy dealership. At the end of this lot, is a right hand turn onto Fallbrook Rd. Take this turn and go approximately 5 miles to the first and only four corners, turn left. We are the first place on the right. We have a fence the full length of our place, you cannot miss us. If you are coming south on 14, turn right at the end and go the red light and follow the above directions. For those of you coming north on 14, before you get to Troy or the red-light you will pass the Troy Suds Depot, (this is a Laundromat and car wash), about 1/4 of a mile past this, is the end of the Chevy dealership with a left turn onto Fallbrook Rd. Take this and turn left at the same first four corners. Right before you get to the four corners, we have a plate steel sign with Bob Foulkrod Bowhunting School on it.
